Electric Vehicles are becoming more familiar but are still so new to us. Most people have seen them on the road but have never been in one. So we made a video comparing the best entry-level EV options available in Australia.
They are the Nissan Leaf, Hyundai IONIQ Electric, Hyundai Kona Electric, Renault Zoe, the Tesla Model 3, and the BMW i3.
Our chosen electric cars have starting prices are from about 50 to about 70 thousand dollars, they boast similarly useful, albeit somewhat different ranges and mostly come with the latest tech perks. Being entry-level EVs, none of them is really a full-size luxury car, but they do vary in size and class.
For example, the Renault Zoe is a subcompact city car, the BMW i3 is a subcompact luxury car, the Hyundai Kona is a subcompact crossover, the Nissan Leaf and Hyundai IONIQ Electric are compact city cars and the Tesla Model 3 offers the most space being a compact executive car.
For the kind of money expected for these electrics, yes, there are internal combustion alternatives that will be cheaper and offer more features. But now it’s clear that the future will be EV. I guess it’s just a matter of when we are ready to join it.
