Petrol engines start with a 3.0 TFSI V6 with 340 hp, 4.0 TFSI V8 with 460 hp. The top is reserved for a 6.0 TFSI W12 familiar from the beastly Bentley Bentayga, but with a lower power rating of 585 hp. There are two diesel options – 3.0 TDI V6 with 286 PS familiar from the SQ7 and another steal from the Bentley Bentayga, the 4.0 TDI V8 with 435 PS. Quattro and 8-speed Tiptronic remain standard.

The new A8 is a bit more angular with cleverly placed features that break up the large metal surfaces, such as this rising crease on the doors. The front has a more aggressive look now, with sharper headlights and grille, as well as noticeably more chrome.

The rear also offers loads of comfort controls, since, unlike most other cars, most owners will actually sit in the back. If you’re a basketball player, you can opt for the L version which adds to the wheelbase and makes room even for rear footrests.

Audi puts the spotlight on their latest level 3 autonomous driving system. It enables steering, acceleration and braking for speeds up to 60km/h and the car can also park and unpark itself. It actually requires no hands on the wheel, unlike most other systems.
