Mercedes will release their latest edition to the GL-Class in the late months of 2012; this new car is the most powerful version within the GL-Class so in this case Mercedes have certainly saved the best till last. The aesthetics of the car are beautiful while also having an extremely powerful engine. The Chairman of Mercedes-AMG, Ola Källenius, sums it up when he says “Combining the first-rate comfort of the S-Class with the performance of an AMG sports saloon, the GL63 AMG is unique in its segment.”
Exterior
At first glance, this new Mercedes car gives a very masculine impression however, the elegance of this design is undeniable. To a certain extent there is a ‘SUV’ look but is still in keeping with the classic beauty of all Mercedes cars, there are many different styles incorporated into the design of this car as there is a perfect combination of a smooth style, a chunky body and a sporty edge. The exterior design of the car will not only turn heads, but is highly practical as the large openings allow the engine to cool and the smooth finish reduces air resistance making it an easy and enjoyable drive.
Interior
The inside of the new Mercedes GL63 is very impressive, there is a two tone theme running throughout the interior making it very classy, while looking very high tech thanks to a multitude of buttons. The silver aluminium pedals stand out against the black floor mats giving a stylish flash of colour, perfectly complementing the two tone steering wheel directly above. This version of the GL-Class can comfortably seat 7 people and is designed specifically for big families, all seven AMG sports seats have top quality leather and are all exceptionally comfortable. The armrests, door panels and dashboard of the car have all been carefully covered with a man made leather that has double top-stitching giving a fine and beautiful finish. Adhering to the classic AMG style there is a 4-spoke steering wheel which has perforated leather in the grip areas to improve handling of such a powerful car.
A fantastic element of this new GL63 which completely deserves full bragging rights is the fact the 0 to 60 mph sprint time is achieved within a tiny 4.9 seconds, a very impressive new feature of the Mercedes car. The engine is equipped with Spray-Guided direct petrol injection and Bi-Turbo charging making the car extremely powerful whilst being fuel efficient. The newest technology has been installed into this new Mercedes and three different driving modes are available making it a suitable drive for many different conditions. The driving modes include Manual, Sports and Controlled Efficiency so the driver can have complete control over the car.
