My First Car
The Very first car I owned was a Toyota Corolla 86. Unfortunately not a sporty Toyota 86 but instead a more sensible corolla. It was the little, unconventional characteristics that made it special to me. For example, it was easy to slide down the passenger window from the outside. Meaning, it was never an issue to lock your keys in the car.
Also, the far from new body work meant that I was never worried about getting a few extra little dings. She already had a few battle scars. The only reason I got rid of her was because I needed a ride that was more reliable. She was getting a bit temperamental in her late 20’s.

Oh and she was called Bessy
Your dream car?
I have a huge soft spot for the Porsche 944.
About 10 years ago I was a passenger in an old boyfriends car and we were involved in a crash on Adelaides infamous Gorge Rd. he was overtaking around a blind corner and he drifted a bit too fast and as the back wheels lost traction we flew off the cliff. The car rolled a few times and we hit a tree on the way down. We landed on the cars side covered in glass and dirt just above the river (thanks to the tree).
We both climbed out the drivers side window and up the cliff with no injuries (apart from his ego).
They just don’t make them like they used to. I would love to have a 944 but not original spec. I’d modernise the interior and create an enviable one off masterpiece.
What do you drive now?
I chose a brand new burgundy red Mazda 2.
I chose it after researching value for money with the best resale. I was also used to driving a small car and love it’s ability parking and driving in the city. The handsfree and working aircon were very welcome luxuries I never had before.
