As we continue to navigate the booming landscape of electric vehicles (EVs), Mercedes-Benz has entered the arena with its third EV SUV offering, the 2023 EQB. Today, we turn our attention to the slightly more powerful variant, the EQB350 4MATIC.

Under the Hood: The Power Within

The EQB350 4MATIC comes equipped with dual electric motors that power all four wheels, fed by a 66.5 kWh battery.

It boasts an output of 215 kW of power and 520 Nm of torque, with a range of 350km WLTP and a 0-100 km/h time of just 6.2 seconds. However, its range sits lower than some rivals, primarily due to its smaller battery size. Nonetheless, during our testing, we found 350km to be a very workable range, offering a comfortable week of regular driving with a single charge.

On the Road: The EQB Driving Experience

Alright, let’s channel Simone. You know when you’re driving this EQB350, it feels like you’re handling a dream. It’s this big, bold SUV, yet it drives like a charm. So smooth, so effortless. Now, imagine taking it through the Adelaide Hills. It should be tricky, right? But not with this beauty. It’s like dancing with a pro, the car just knows the steps – slowing down, picking up speed, just at the right time. The driver assist is a total game-changer. Seriously, I was blown away! It’s like having a co-pilot who knows the road like the back of their hand. So yeah, driving the EQB, it’s not just driving, it’s an experience.

Charging: Powering Up Your EQB

Mercedes-Benz provides two different charging cables for the EQB350. The standard emergency cable plugs into any 240v power output, taking around 34 hours for a full charge. A Type 2 to Type 2 cable is also included, allowing you to use many of the chargers readily available. A full charge with a 7kw home charger takes approximately 9.5 hours, with a maximum charging input of 100kW enabling a charge from 10-80% in just 33 minutes.

Inside the Cabin:

Inside the EQB, it’s all about spaciousness, comfort, and the kind of visual majesty you expect from Mercedes-Benz. Dual 10.25-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system, 64 different ambient lighting choices, and optional heated and cooled seats make it a pleasant place to be.

The EQB is one of the few full EV 7-seaters currently available in the market, offering 495L of boot space in the five-seater variant, which extends to 1710L with the second row laid flat.

In wrapping up, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB350 4MATIC is a competent player in the crowded EV market. It may not outshine its competitors in every aspect, but it’s a compelling blend of luxury, comfort, and eco-friendly driving that’s hard to ignore. With a solid presence, it offers a practical range that’s more than adequate for daily use, an advanced driver assistance package that’s a game changer, and a spacious interior that oozes with class. Not to forget, it’s one of the few options if you’re looking for a full EV 7-seater. It may not be the perfect EV, but it’s a Mercedes through and through. Whether you’re a Mercedes loyalist or someone keen to join the EV revolution, the EQB350 is a choice well worth considering.
