Jenny reviews the all-new 2021 Subaru Outback in it’s top trim Touring. There are so many things that make the all-new Subaru impressive with things like that massive infotainment screen and the great safety tech. But the engine seems a little dated now when compared with some of the other offerings we see on the Australian SUV and wagon market.

The engine in the new Subaru Outback is a 2.5 L 4-pot naturally aspirated boxer petrol. It produces 138 kW and 245 Nm of torque. And being naturally aspirated, you do need to rev it up a bit to get all the twisting force as it comes from 3400 revs. The latest Outback also comes with a CVT and has Subaru’s spectacular Symmetrical AWD system with active torque split as standard across the range.
