Amelia reviews the all-new 2021 Genesis GV80 and looks at how this luxury Korean compares with its German rivals in the Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, and Audi Q7 come to mind first.

Typically, when I think about big luxurious SUVs, my first choices always come from Germany. And I’m going to talk about them from a perspective of a city mom that sometimes goes on longer trips, not from the perspective of someone reviewing a proper SUV. All the german rivals have an entry option with a similar starting price of around 100k but by the time you add options you quickly see the price jump and by the time you get to those higher performance variations then it’s a completely different pricing category. The GV80 fits that picture perfectly and delivers on all of those fonts. If you prefer the sharp interior of the Q7, the GV80 will not be your choice. But if you want a luxurious, spacious cruiser of an SUV, it is a viable option and in some very tough competition.
