What is it?
The GV70 is Genesis's mid-size luxury SUV, aimed at the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5 and Porsche Macan. Two combustion powertrains (2.5T four or 3.5T V6) plus the Electrified GV70 EV at the top of the range.
The lineup runs from GV70 2.5T AWD at $94,200 plus on-roads, through to Electrified GV70 at $127,800 plus on-roads. Warranty cover sits at 5 years, unlimited km.
Interior and Technology
3.5T V6 makes 279 kW and 530 Nm, undercutting equivalent X3 M40i and GLC 450 grades by tens of thousands. 27-inch OLED panoramic display feels genuinely premium.
Resale lags the Germans in metro markets where the badge still matters. Dealer footprint is limited to capital city Genesis studios.
Should you buy the GV70?
Reasons to buy
- 3.5T V6 makes 279 kW and 530 Nm, undercutting equivalent X3 M40i and GLC 450 grades by tens of thousands. 27-inch OLED panoramic display feels genuinely premium.
- Warranty: 5 years, unlimited km.
- 5-star ANCAP (2021), full driver-assist suite.
Reasons to wait
- Resale lags the Germans in metro markets where the badge still matters. Dealer footprint is limited to capital city Genesis studios.
- You want the resale and dealer footprint of a German badge, a hybrid drivetrain in this generation, or longer EV range than the Electrified GV70's 354 km WLTP.
- 3.5T V6 fuel use sits in the 11s combined, with no hybrid option in this generation. If efficiency matters, the Electrified GV70 is the only stop on the lineup.
- Top trim climbs to $127,800 plus on-roads.
