What is it?
The new generation Macan launched in Australia in 2024 as Porsche's first volume electric SUV, with the legacy petrol Macan phased out of the local lineup. Built on the PPE platform with the Audi Q6 e-tron, it runs a 100 kWh battery and 270 kW DC peak charging.
The lineup runs from Macan at $128,400 plus on-roads, through to Macan Turbo at $189,400 plus on-roads. Warranty cover sits at 3 years, unlimited km.
Interior and Technology
270 kW DC peak is the fastest charging rate of any rival at this price. 641 km WLTP on the rear drive Macan is best in the EV luxury SUV class, and the Turbo delivers a 3.3 second 0 to 100 km/h.
3 year warranty is shorter than every rival. Climate functions are buried in the touchscreen, requiring lots of glances on the move.
Should you buy the Macan?
Reasons to buy
- 270 kW DC peak is the fastest charging rate of any rival at this price. 641 km WLTP on the rear drive Macan is best in the EV luxury SUV class, and the Turbo delivers a 3.3 second 0 to 100 km/h.
- Warranty: 3 years, unlimited km.
- 540 L plus 84 L frunk boot, segment-competitive cargo space.
Reasons to wait
- 3 year warranty is shorter than every rival. Climate functions are buried in the touchscreen, requiring lots of glances on the move.
- You want a longer warranty (Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo all offer 5 years), or you want a legacy petrol Macan (no longer sold in Australia).
- Options inflate the bottom line by tens of thousands. Audit the 3 year warranty against rival 5 year cover before signing, especially if you plan to keep the car long term.
- Top trim climbs to $189,400 plus on-roads.
