What is it?
The bZ4X is Toyota Australia's first full battery-electric SUV, arriving in 2026 after a major MY26 update lifted battery capacity, charging speed and range over the original 2022 launch car. e-TNGA platform shared with the Subaru Solterra, 71.4 kWh NMC battery, Pure FWD with 150 kW front motor or Lounge AWD with 252 kW dual motor. Indicative pricing pending launch.
The lineup runs from Pure FWD at $66,990 plus on-roads, through to Lounge AWD at $74,990 plus on-roads. Warranty cover sits at 5 years, unlimited km.
Interior and Technology
Toyota dealer footprint is the largest service network of any EV brand sold here. 10-year high-voltage battery cover via the EV battery care programme. MY26 update lifts DC peak to 150 kW, well above launch-spec bZ4X. X-Mode on the AWD adds real off-road traction modes for a mid SUV. 5-star ANCAP with full Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 suite standard.
Pricing is indicative pending the official Toyota AU media release. Arrives three years after Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 on the same money. No frunk under the bonnet, packaging is tight against MEB rivals. 150 kW DC peak still behind 800V Hyundai and Kia siblings.
