What is it?
The R53 Pathfinder is the fifth-generation Pathfinder, on sale in Australia since 2022. Large unibody seven-seat SUV with Nissan's 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 producing 202 kW and 340 Nm, paired to a 9-speed automatic. The Intelligent 4WD system offers seven drive modes on higher grades, and braked towing tops the unibody seven-seat class at 2,700 kg.
The lineup runs from ST-L 2WD at $54,690 plus on-roads, through to Ti-L 4WD at $79,990 plus on-roads. Warranty cover sits at 5 years, unlimited km.
Interior and Technology
2,700 kg braked towing is segment-leading among unibody seven-seaters. The 9-speed auto replaces the old CVT, the seven-mode Intelligent 4WD covers Snow, Sand, Mud and Tow drive modes, and the third row remains adult-usable thanks to EZ Flex tip-and-slide.
No hybrid powertrain offered. 10.5 L per 100 km combined is thirsty for the class, premium fuel preferred. Ti and Ti-L lose the seventh seat for second-row captain's chairs.
