What is it?
The all-new LX3 Palisade arrives in Australia hybrid only, with the V6 petrol and 2.2L diesel both dropped in favour of a turbocharged 2.5L four paired with an electric motor. 245 kW combined, 6.8 L/100 km claimed, and the segment benchmark for adult-friendly third-row space.
The lineup runs from Elite 8-Seat Hybrid AWD at $76,500 plus on-roads, through to Calligraphy 7-Seat Hybrid AWD at $90,900 plus on-roads. Warranty cover sits at 5 years, unlimited km.
Interior and Technology
Adult-sized third row is the genuine selling point. 6.8 L/100 km combined hybrid claim on premium 91 RON unleaded, paired with AWD as standard.
2,000 kg braked tow trails the previous diesel and most diesel-powered rivals. The 6-speed auto is also the weakest part of the hybrid powertrain against Toyota's smoother CVT.
Should you buy the Palisade?
Reasons to buy
- Adult-sized third row is the genuine selling point. 6.8 L/100 km combined hybrid claim on premium 91 RON unleaded, paired with AWD as standard.
- Warranty: 7 years, unlimited km. Battery: 8 years, 160,000 km.
- 5-star ANCAP (2024), full driver-assist suite.
- 311 L (rows up), 1,302 L (row three down) boot, segment-competitive cargo space.
- Braked towing rated at 2,000 kg.
Reasons to wait
- 2,000 kg braked tow trails the previous diesel and most diesel-powered rivals. The 6-speed auto is also the weakest part of the hybrid powertrain against Toyota's smoother CVT.
- You tow more than 2,000 kg regularly (Ford Everest does 3,500 kg), you want a cheaper buy-in (Kia Sorento HEV is $66k), or you want the smoothness of a CVT hybrid (Toyota Kluger).
- Captain's chairs cost a $1,000 walk from the 8-seat Calligraphy. Calligraphy at $89,900 plus on-roads bumps into Kia Carnival HEV and Mazda CX-90 PHEV money.
- Top trim climbs to $90,900 plus on-roads.
