Should you buy the Aceman?
Reasons to buy
- Mini styling in a 4.08 m EV that still fits genuine families. The 240 mm circular OLED touchscreen is the most distinctive cabin in the class. 406 km WLTP on the SE puts it ahead of several mid-priced EVs. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto standard from base.
- Warranty: 5 years, unlimited km (8 years, 160,000 km battery).
- 300 L (1,005 L folded) boot, segment-competitive cargo space.
Reasons to wait
- FWD only, no dual-motor or AWD option in Australia. DC charging peaks at 95 kW on the SE, well behind segment leaders. No ANCAP rating at launch. 300 L boot is small for the crossover badge.
- You want faster DC charging (Volvo EX30, Smart #1 and Zeekr X all charge faster), all-wheel drive or dual motor (Aceman is FWD only in Australia), or a roomier boot (300 L is small for a crossover badge).
- The SE is the grade to buy. The 406 km WLTP range and 95 kW DC are meaningfully more usable than the E grade. FWD-only and 95 kW DC are the trade-offs for the Mini-flavoured cabin.
- Top trim climbs to $63,990 plus on-roads.
