What is it?
The EV3 is Kia's compact electric SUV, sized under the EV5 and built on the same E-GMP platform as the EV6 and EV9. It is the first Kia EV designed to land at a price most Australian families will not flinch at, starting from $48,990 drive-away.
The lineup runs from Air Standard Range at $48,990 drive-away, through to GT-Line Long Range at $68,490 drive-away. Warranty cover sits at 7 years, unlimited km.

Should you buy the EV3?
Reasons to buy
- 604 km WLTP on the Air Long Range. Longest range under $60,000 drive-away in Australia.
- Warranty: 7 years, unlimited km. Battery: 7 years, 150,000 km.
- 5-star ANCAP (2024), full driver-assist suite.

Reasons to wait
- DC charging peaks at 128 kW (not 800V). Expect 31 minutes for 10 to 80 percent on a fast charger.
- You need AWD, you want sub-$45k entry pricing (BYD Atto 3 is cheaper), or you road-trip enough to want 800V DC charging from the EV6 or EV9.
- Air Long Range gets 604 km but the Earth and GT-Line drop to 563 km. Wheel size and weight tax the range, so know what you are paying for at each step.
- Top trim climbs to $68,490 drive-away.
