WANT a Hyundai i30 but just can’t afford it?
Think again. Because the Korean brand has just launched a model called the i30 Go, and it’s priced at about $14,000 less than the top-ranker in the i30 clan.
Available with petrol and diesel power and manual or automatic transmission, the i30 Go is set to re-take the bit of ground lost in the last price revamp.
The i30 Go is pretty well equipped with standard features like automatic headlights, LED daytime-running lights, a reversing camera, tyre pressure monitoring, cruise control, and power windows.
It runs on16-inch steel wheels and has a full-sized spare.
Engine choices are a 120kW/203Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine with a six-speed manual at $19,990 or a six-speed automatic for $2300 more.
The 100kW/280Nm 1.6-litre turbo-diesel option is $22,490 with a six-speed manual) or $24,990a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Inside there’s an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
But if you can’t read maps you’ll have to get a Tom-Tom or similar device because there’s no satellite navigation in the Go.
