ITโS all utes and SUVs in Australia, with June sales reflecting constant growth in those sectors, at the expense of passenger cars.
Total sales were marginally down on June 2018, but utes claimed a 22 per cent leap and SUVs were up nearly 10 per cent, while passenger cars sales tumbled 18 per cent.
HiLux, Ranger and Triton utes led the Top 10 from Corolla, Hyundai i30,ย Mazda 3,ย Mazda CX-5, Rav4,ย Cerato and another ute, the Colorado.
In the various market sectors, Kiaโs Picanto on 812 sold some 10 times more than its next rivals, Holden Spark and Mitsubishi Mirage, both managing just 82 sales.
Top light car was the Hyundai Accent ahead ofย Mazda 2 and Toyota Yaris, while the Corolla led the small cars from i30 and Mazda 3.
Camry still led the medium segment, albeit with a greatly reduced margin as the ast of the loaclly made models disappeared, from Mazda 6 and VW Passat.
Ford Mustang commanded 635 sales to lead the sports car class from Toyota 86 and BMW 2-Series, while the sports cars with $200,00+ prices was Porsche 911 territory on 46 sales, exactly double that of Ferrari with Mercedes-AMG GT third on 19.
Topping the small SUVs was Nissanโs Qashqai on 2198 sales, chased by Mitsubishi ASX (2053) and Mazda CX-3 (1869).
The medium SUV sales were also close, with Mazda CX-5 ahead ofย Toyota Rav4 andย Hondaโs CR-V and the big brutes were led by Kluger from Prado and Subaru Outback.
Small vans? VW Caddy,ย Renault Kangoo and Citroen Berlingo.
In the serious wheels department, 16 people people bought Bentleys in June, 13 preferred Aston Martins, Lamborghini and Lotus each had 10 buyers, 9 opted for a McLaren, four for a Rolls Royceย and one for a Morgan.
