Should you buy the XC90?
Reasons to buy
- True 7 seats standard rather than an optional row, plus the T8 Recharge offers 71 km WLTP EV range with 335 kW combined output and 2,250 kg braked towing.
- Warranty: 5 years, unlimited km.
- 5-star ANCAP (2015), full driver-assist suite.

Reasons to wait
- Underlying SPA platform is now over a decade old and the 5-year warranty trails some Korean and Japanese rivals.
- You want a newer EV (Volvo EX90), the latest platform (Audi Q7, BMW X5), or a cheaper 7-seat alternative (Mazda CX-90, Kia Sorento).
- Cargo behind the third row is modest at 302 L. EV cross-shoppers will be steered to the larger, newer EX90, so compare both before committing.
- Top trim climbs to $134,990 plus on-roads.
