Interior and Technology

Four tier range from sensible 200 to 310 kW AMG 45 S in one body. 48V mild hybrid across the petrol range improves stop start refinement. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto now standard after the facelift. The AMG 45 S M139 remains the most powerful 2.0 litre production engine on sale.

435 L boot trails the BMW X1 and X2 by a meaningful margin. 1.3 litre triple feels small for the body when fully loaded. No PHEV variant for Australia. AMG 45 S pricing closes on entry GLC 43 territory.

Reasons to wait

  • 435 L boot trails the BMW X1 and X2 by a meaningful margin. 1.3 litre triple feels small for the body when fully loaded. No PHEV variant for Australia. AMG 45 S pricing closes on entry GLC 43 territory.
  • You want a bigger boot than 435 L, a PHEV variant (the GLA range is petrol MHEV only in Australia), or AMG 45 S money cross shopping a GLC 43.
  • If you regularly carry four adults plus luggage, the X1 offers more boot space. AMG 45 S buyers should confirm Australian premium fuel costs against ownership expectations.
  • Top trim climbs to $121,900 plus on-roads.
