While the Corolla is one of the most popular cars in history, Toyota seems to be able to give this fuel-efficient small car more to like year after year. For 2014, three all-new sedan versions join the four versions of the oh-so-popular Corolla hatches. While the hatch versions did not receive too many changes for 2014, the sedans are larger and have been given a major facelift. They have also gained some additional wheelbase making them longer to allow for more legroom for rear passengers. With more consumers looking for cars that not only have better fuel economy but offer more value for their dollar, the updated 2014 Corolla is sure to remain at the top of the favorites list.
The 2014 Toyota Corolla hatches offer a quartet of value
The 2014 Toyota Corolla hatch is available in four trims that include the Ascent, Ascent Sport, Levin SX and Levin ZR. All are powered by the same 1.8-litre Dual VVT-i DOHC four-cylinder engine that produces 103 kW of power with 173 Nm of torque. All trims are also available with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed multi-drive transmission, but the Levin SX and Levin ZR add the fun of paddle shifters for the multi-drive transmission only. This drivetrain combination offers an across the board fuel usage of a very acceptable 7.1L/100km. The Corolla hatch is also available in a trim that fits nearly any style and budget. The Ascent is the entry-level Corolla hatch, but it still features an abundance of standard features including cloth bucket seats, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, full power features, six-speaker audio system with CD and MP3 capability, Bluetooth connectivity and steering wheel audio controls. Move up to the Ascent Sport and you get everything you would in the Ascent with the addition of a 6.1-in LCD touchscreen audio system, fog lamps, chrome exterior accents, rearview camera and 16-inch alloy wheels.
If you are wanting a 2014 Corolla hatch that is sportier with more technological features, the Levin SX adds sport bucket seats, a multi-informational display for the driver, paddle shifters for the 7-speed multi-drive transmission, Toyota’s state of the art TECH system with navigation and traffic monitoring, carbon fibre interior accents and 17-inch alloy wheels. If you want value and luxury, the Levin ZR adds leather-trimmed seats with heated front buckets, Smart Entry and Smart Start, dual zone climate control and the option of a large Skyview roof. The price of the 2014 Corolla hatch is still very reasonable for the caliber of quality that Toyota offers across the entire brand. Full driveaway for the entry-level Ascent hatch starts at around $23,000, with an additional cost for any color other than Glacier White. The extra cost for the exterior finishes is applicable to all Corolla models. The Ascent Sport starts at around $24,340, the Levin SX at $27,120 and the top of the line Levin ZR at about $31,890. The 2014 Corolla hatch is a smart looking car that offers acceptable fuel economy, a wide range of choices in equipment levels and the dependability of a Toyota.
A trio of 2014 Toyota Corolla sedans from subdued to sporty
Australia is not the only country to get a completely updated 2014 Toyota Corolla sedan. Americans have been just as impressed with the larger, completely updated U.S. version of Toyota’s very popular small car. The 2014 Corolla sedan also marks the first year that Thailand will be providing the supply of the new Corolla to Australia. For 2014, the “grown up” Corolla sedan is available in three trims that include the Ascent, SX and ZR. They are powered by the same 1.8-litre Dual VVT-i DOHC four-cylinder engine that powers the hatch versions and offers 103 kW of power with 173 Nm of torque. However, fuel economy is slightly better in the sedan at 6.6L/100km. The Ascent and SX are available with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed multi-drive transmission and the Corolla ZR, while only available in a 7-speed multi-drive adds the sporty control of paddle shifters. The entry-level Ascent offers some great standard features including a 6.1-inch touchscreen audio system with CD and MP3 as well as Bluetooth connectivity. It also gives the driver the bonus of reverse parking sensors and a rearview camera. Its stylish cloth interior is comfortable and with the Corolla sedan’s increased wheelbase, there is a bit more legroom for rear passengers or more room for the front passengers to sit back and enjoy the ride. The Corolla SX adds Toyota’s Smart Entry and Smart Start system, fog lamps, front clearance sensors and sporty 16-inch alloy wheels. The top of the line Corolla SX features leather accented seating, engine immobiliser and alarm, automatic front wipers, and the addition of navigation and traffic monitoring to the display audio system. Whichever version of the all-new 2014 Corolla sedan you choose, you will definitely feel like you should have paid more, but happy you did not have to.
Pricing for the all-new Corolla sedan is very impressive as well with the Corolla Ascent at a full driveaway price, in Glacier White, at around $23,770. As with all Corolla models, there is an additional charge for any other of the great exterior colors that are available. The Corolla SX starts at a full driveaway price of just over $26,000 and the top of the line ZR starts at about $34,600. While the all-new Corolla sedan obviously costs more as you move up through the trim levels, it still offers a wide range of choices to allow the 2014 Corolla sedan to be attainable for a wide range of budgets.
