The 2014 Jeep Cherokee. Hit or Miss?

OK, so you know the Jeep Cherokee right? The vehicle that has been a staple in American off-roading for decades now. The very one, and the same Jeep that has been seen driving around Sidney stalking some of the Holdens on the roads today. So what’s the big news that Jeep has to offer to the world? Something that was just announced a day or two ago, and it’s good, and not that good.

Well apparently, there was a person who works/worked at one of the Jeep Cherokee assembly plants in America, who thought it was good idea to snap a couple of pics of the brand spanking new 2014 Jeep Cherokee, and then send them to an American auto-blog site called Jalopnik.com. After the pics hit the web, the reps, and CEO’s over at Chrysler/Fiat decided to take action, and put out some official pics of the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee. Needless to say, the difference in the pics don’t change the overall outcome of the vehicle at hand.

So, the new Cherokee has the look of something that had it’s faced pinched too many times, and then was squeezed on the sides to make up for the pinching. Either way, the front fascia of the Cherokee is seriously weird looking. The fact that the front grille is now half the size of what it used it be. You can kind of see some of the French Fiat pizazz that has made it’s way into this one. It’s slightly reminiscent of a 90’s style concept car that should not have made it off of the drawing boards. From the pics that are shown, the Jeep looks a little smaller than what we are used to. As a matter of fact, Jeep reps stated that this new Jeep shares a platform with the 2013 Dodge Dart. Which plainly tells us that this Jeep is, and will be considerably smaller than the last one. If that’s the case, then I really don’t want to know what the SRT version would like. A better statement would be, will there be an SRT version of this new Jeep? Sorry folks, that’s strictly opinion.

More news of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee involved a proposed V6 power plant, that just might have a 4 cylinder option, or two. Now, can we stop for a moment. How the Hell are you supposed to drive anything that has the Jeep name, and it’s pushing a 4 cylinder engine? That is simply ludicrous, and unfathomable. The bottom line here, is that this new, and already built Cherokee is leaning in the direction of becoming a prissy little run about that will become a shameful shadow of it’s former self. Once again folks, opinion.
