Let’s get this week going with a set of cars from an automaker that has been on the road for decades now, and by the looks of things they will not stop putting out hit after fabulous hit. For this week, we at Cartell.tv are going to bring you a group of jaw dropping, smooth looking, flawlessly designed, and fun loving Volkswagens, and first up is the 2013 Volkswagen CC. To begin, we need to realize how the CC came about, and why it was made.
To put it simply, the designers at Volkswagen wanted more than two main stream four door sedans. Now don’t get me wrong, the Jetta and the Passat have been the staple for decades now, but there was something missing. A sleek, and sexy four door that could share a common platform, but at the same time look completely different. They tried with the Phaeton and that’s still a work in progress. So in 2008, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, VW debuted the CC, which actually stands for Comfort Coupe. The name itself is the opposite of what it actually is. One of the original concepts that were drawn up, was of a long two door car that would be able to seat four adults, and have the potential for more space. That idea was dropped, mainly because Mercedes Benz was doing it already, and four door would suit the need a lot better.
That brings us to our latest entry, the 2013 Volkswagen CC. This model has only been around for five years, and it seems to get better with each passing year. The outward styling is very modern with Bi-Xenon headlights leading the charge of style, and aggressively good looks. Even though the CC shares it’s platform with the Passat, you would have to put them side by side to see that the CC is just over an inch longer, wider, and lower. These may be small numbers, but they come into play when the CC comes to life with it’s top of the line spec motor. The 3.6L, 6 cylinder VR6 engine produces a modest 220Kw of power, and 350Nm of torque. Not bad for when you consider that your moving over 2,100kg from A to B. The power for the CC is delivered through a very smooth and calculating 4 Motion, 6 speed Automatic Direct Shift gearbox, that allows the CC to go from 0 to 100km/h in about 5.6 seconds, and has a top speed of 250km/h.
The 2013 CC comes with a vast amount of technological goodies that would make a Crutchfield salesperson jealous. First off, there’s a bevy of safety features such as, Parking Assist, Lane Deviation Sensors, Early Warning Impact Sensors, Electronic Stability Control that’s link to 6 airbags, Hill Assist in some models, and a “Hands Free” boot-lid opener. Combine all of those things with Key-less entry, LED tail lights, 19 inch wheels that come equipped with a very efficient TPMS, you have a gem of a car.
Interior wise, the 2013 CC rivals cars that cost three times as much as it does. Fully bolstered, heated, and cooled leather seats keep the driver begging wishing his bed was made from the same materials. The entire cabin was tastefully drowned in the soft and supple leather treatment. The four or five passengers will sit comfortably in the CC due
to the high level of refinement that was put into making this car what it is. In the 3.6 VR6 model Chrome surrounds just about movable part that either the driver of passengers can touch. Adding to the already high comfort level is the impeCCable 300W audio system that integrates multiple speaker surround sound, Blutooth, Sat-Nav, Sonar w/sign recognition, Ipod hook up, and the icing on the cake, the transparent panoramic sunroof.
The 2013 Volkswagen CC is a car that begs to not only be looked at, but compared to the likes of Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Ford, and Nissan. For these companies produce it’s most direct competitors. Me personally, I am a true V-dub man through and through, but I may be swayed if the conditions are right. This time around, I’m not moving. I love everything about this car. It has style, prestige, a subdued, but slightly aggressive nature, and it has decades of VW history pushing it forward. With all of that in mind, what’s stopping you from driving you from enjoying what everyone else is talking about?
