The 2016 Volvo XC90 is modern and elegant. The Swedish 7-seater SUV is stylishly designed with a modest exterior and luxurious interior. The XC90 was first launched in 2002 and has received comprehensive designing in the year 2016 to keep up with the vehicles in the ever-growing global luxury vehicle market. Offering similar functions as the leading luxury cars such as Mercedes, Audi and the BMW – the Volvo presents a pleasant a lavish mode of transportation.

Exterior Design

From the outside, the Volvo XC90 may share design features with other Volvos in the market and just appear like a bigger version. And big version it is, for a 7-passenger vehicle, the Volvo does make a statement in terms of its size. Volvo have a way of making big statements with subtle styling cues that make the new XC90 look sleek and modern.
It has a round, and robust front fascia and striking sharp modern headlights. The back of the XC90 maintains those well known tall Volvo LED Taillights.

Engine and Performance

We were given the 2016 Volvo XC90 D5. Which so Turbo Diesel variant of the XC90 and has a 2.0 Litre, 4 Cylinder, Twin Turbocharged Diesel engine that produces 165 Kw of power, and around 470 Nm of torque. We were taken back with how impressive the fuel consumption was for the XC90 at 6.2 Litres per 100 km.

The XC90 D5 has an 8 speed automatic transmission that is very responsive, easy to drive and runs quietly and smoothly for a diesel.

Interior

In general the interior of the Volvo XC90 is impressive. The key feature that jumps out and grabs your attention is the new 12.5 inch infotainment system. In the past Volvo reviews, Amelia and Martine have criticised the old design of the centre console and the functionality of the infotainment units. But for the new XC90 Volvo have created an excellent new unit that we couldn’t really fault. Its massive, easy to use and capable of controlling almost every feature imaginable. its designed to operate almost like an iPad an allows you to swipe from screen to screen to get to more options.
